Translation of Bravery Medal Certificate

Posted on 2014-09-23 | In Military Medal

Below is a certified translation of a Hungarian bravery medal certificate in my possession given to my father Gustav in 1942.

The name, declaration and stamp of the NAATI accredited translator has not been included in translation above.

From the following link, Bravery medal (Hungary), a very large number of bravery medals were issued.

While the acts that give rise to the issue of bravery medals must of course be treated with respect and such acts be honoured, Gustav was issued with so many medals that relatives used the ribbons from his medals to incorporate as part of their clothing.

Gustav’s mother’s maiden name is listed as Izabella Danko, whom I was named after.

Hungarian Folk Music MP3s

Posted on 2014-04-24 | In Funeral

Below are five charming, gentle and haunting early 20th century Hungarian Folk Music MP3s.

John Urbancsik’s sister, Isabella, is suggesting they be considered for  choosing from for suitable music to be played at her late brother’s service.

The music is out of copyright and was recorded from 78 rpm records, hence they sound scratchy,  although still charming.

They are listed in order of her preference

Funeral Service

Posted on 2014-04-23 | In Funeral

A funeral service followed by a burial will be held at Pinegrove Memorial Gardens, Sydney at 10:30am on Wednesday 30 April 2014.

Family and friends are invited to attend.

The service will be conducted by a Funeral Celebrant. There will be an open coffin viewing prior to the service,  a slide show presentation, eulogies and music.

In line with the practices  of John’s family, John’s sister, Isabella, is requesting the service will not be specifically denominational but will include common spiritual themes such as:

  • Death is not the end.  Death frees our mystical core or soul
  • With death our souls are free to participate in spiritual union or universal oneness
  • A Hindu/Vedic theme where each perspective only captures an aspect of truth due to our human limitations
  • Following from the above the Hindu/Vedic theme expressed as “There is one truth, reached by many paths”, leading to a common human experience of the presence of a creative life force.
  • An appreciation that with this life force comes a role for love expressed through harmony,  understanding,  acceptance, and freedom form malice with those we share our lives with .
